Kwankwaso , A visionary Leader-General Abdulsalami

kwankwaso newFormer  Head of State, Gen. Abubakar Abdusalami has described Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of Kano state as visionary and purposeful leader who is committed to the progress of his people.

His words: “this administration by all judgment is a visionary and people oriented government that has successfully brought about various developmental programmes and projects that would have an everlasting impact on people”.

“Indeed it is aquite (an) honour for one to be associated with the concern for advancement of education especially the promotion of Information Technology at this age when the world’s activities are simplified by internet connectivity”.

Gen. Abdussalami stated this when he commissioned the multi-million Naira Kano Informatics Institute, one of the 26 Institutes established by the Kwankwaso administration in Kura headquarters of Kura Local Government area on, Tuesday.

The former Head of State pointed out Kano state has always been a pacesetter in developmental strides, adding that states and the federal government have often copied its experiment on success projects especially on education.

Gen. Abdussalami, who is also a UN Special Envoy said he was motivated  to come and commission the project because of his love for the government and people of Kano, pointing out that “as a leader, Governor Kwankwaso has done remarkably well.”

He then urged the people of Kano, especially those of Kura and the neighbouring Madobi and Garun Malam local governments to make good use of the institute by enrolling their children so as to keep abreast of globalization.

On his part, Governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso told the gathering that the institute which was conceived to train students in the practice of information processing and engineering of information systems has graduated so many students with Diploma and Advanced Diploma certificates,

He pointed out that already, some 197 graduates of the institute have been offered scholarships by the state government and have obtained their  first degrees at the International University of East Africa, Uganda, where they completed their degrees in Information Technology with flying colours.

The governor said his administration established the institute alongside 25 others in order to build the capacities of women and youth in Kano so that they can contribute more positively in nation building and become active players in the scheme of things internationally.

One of the former students of the institute, Mujahid Aliyu who recently returned from the Ugandan university thanked the governor for giving them the opportunity to become useful to themselves and the society at large. The Kano Informatics Institute is an associate of British Computer Society which is recognized by 70 UK universities.

Meanwhile, Governor Kwankwaso and Gen. Abdussalami  also inspected some mega projects embarked upon by the Kwankwaso administration including the N14.2 billion Tiga Independent Power Project, the permanent site of Northwest University and Bagauda Technical College.
