#TrackNigeria: Abuja, Feb. 20, 2019, 2019 (NAN) The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, has appealed to the National Peace Committee, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to pay special attention to the state in the forthcoming elections.
State Chairman of the party, Mr Samuel Uhuotu, made the call while briefing newsmen on behalf of the PDP Kogi stakeholders on Wednesday, in Abuja,
Uhuotu said there was need for the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, the National Security Adviser, the Service Chiefs and others, to pay special attention to what he described as the frightening situation in Kogi.
He said frightening political situation in the state which includes violence, thuggery, arson, kidnapping and extra judicial killings, which should not be taken lightly.
He alleged that no fewer than seven PDP members in the state were reported to have been shot dead, several others in hospital, while many houses had been destroyed by political thugs.

“The entire law abiding indigenes of Kogi deserve to live in peace and be allowed to carry out their civic responsibilities peacefully without any intimidation and coercion.
“This is all that we ask for; nothing more, nothing less,’’ he said.
He urged the IG to compel all security agencies, especially the police, to maintain demonstrable neutrality in the performance of their duties before and during the forthcoming general elections.
At the briefing were two former governors of the state, Alhaji Idris Ibrahim Idris and Mr Idris Wada, former acting governor of the state, Hon Clarence Olafemi, Sen. Dino Melaye, Sen. Tunde Ogbeha and Mr Yomi Awoniyi, a former Deputy governor of the state. (NAN)
