Reports from Lokoja,the Kogi state capital said Governor Idris Wada has been seriously injured in an auto crash today.Unconfirmed reports said Wada may be “in coma” at the hospital where he was rushed to.The accident reportedly occurred after the governor and his convoy were returning from an official assignment.
Reports also said the governor’s Aide-de-Camp,ADC, Idris Mohammed died instantly .While a report said the driver to was believed to have been killed on the spot , another report said the driver merely sustained injuries.
There has been no official statement yet on the incident. Efforts to reach Jacob Edi ,special adviser to the governor on media and strategy failed as his number was unavailable.
Today’s sad incident follows a seeming trend in the fate governors are suffering in Nigeria .Taraba state Governor Danbaba Suntai is still in a German hospital following a crash of a plane he piloted to Adamawa state.Enugu state Governor Sullivan Chime has yet to return from a medical treatment abroad.
Also two weeks ago,Kaduna state Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa was killed in a naval helicopter crash in Bayelsa state along with former NSA ,General Andrew Azazi and four others .
