Coach Boye Ogunderu of Rising Stars Football Club of Akure says he never entertained any fear on Friday during their game with Offa FC in the Nationwide League One (NLO).
The NLO Group C1 Match Day 6 fixture at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, which Rising Stars won 2-0, had ended goalless after the first half.
However, substitute Monday Omohera put the home team ahead in the 63rd minute while another substitute, Ajayi Abiodun, extended their lead barely two minutes after coming on.
“I did not entertain any fear with the match ending goalless after the first half. I was however optimistic, because I had my joker,’’ Ogunderu said in his post-match interview with newsmen.
“We scored two quick goals against them away in Offa. But I heard they had added fresh legs to their team. I knew it would be tough for us, but I am happy we won Friday’s game. I know we have the depth and the players who can do the damage. So, I studied them before releasing the venom we have,” he added.
Speaking also, Abdul-Ganiyu Brimoh, Offa FC’s Head Coach, said he was happy with the display of both teams, saying “the game’s level is above the level of amateur sides’’.
Both sides had drawn 2-2 in their week 5 encounter in Offa.(NAN)
