The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Maiyama/Koko /Besse Federal Constituency, Alhaji Shehu Muhammad has promised to establish a paint factory as part of his efforts to reduce unemployment in Kebbi state.

Muhammad said in Birnin Kebbi on Friday that over 200 youths would be employed in chalk-making and paint-making in the factory.

He said he had signed agreement with Julius Berger Construction Company toward the establishment of the factory.

“Being a youth and knowing how it feels for an unemployed youth, I have signed an agreement with the Julius Berger Construction Company for the establishment of the paint factory.

“The agreement was signed four months ago.

“The aim is to reduce the number of unemployed youths and provide them with opportunity to showcase their talent in business ventures, as they excel, they would one day be employers of labour,” he said.

According to him, the contract is expected to be completed within 2019, adding that 25 per cent of contractual commitment has been paid for the commencement of the project.

The candidate added that a Frequency Modulation (FM), private radio station would also be established in his constituency to provide job opportunities for youths and promote freedom of speech.

“I intend to open a community FM, private station that covers at least 200 kilometres.

“I have already got the license and it is going to be based in Koko area.”

He, however, urged youths to shun thuggery and violence during and after the electioneering period.

“I call on the electorate, especially eligible voters among the youth, to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

“They should not sell their PVC as doing that amounts to mortgaging their future for peanuts.“(NAN).
