Men of the Joint Task Force in Kano were engaged in a serious gun battle with unknown gunmen in the Dandishe Bye Pass axis of the ancient city throughout the early hours of Wednesday.
A resident of the area, who does not want his name on print, said “ we could not close our eyes, in the early hours of the morning around 2am the shooting started and lasted for hours, there was exchange of heavy gunfire”
Another resident who pleaded for anonymity said “ after the incident all through the night, in the morning I tried to investigate what happened, I was told some gun men, whom we suspect are armed robber tried to operate at Dandishe Bye Pass.”
“ The vigilante group in the area engaged in a serious battle with the robbers, before the soldiers arrived and the battle became heavy,” he further stated.
The all night gun battle is coming hours after 3 police officers, including an inspector were shot dead by gunmen at Yankaba quarters, while unconfirmed reports stated that, during that attack one of the police officers, who survived the incident managed to escape with bullet wounds.
