Mr Labaran Maku, the immediate past minister of information  has rejected the recent gubernatorial primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP in Nasarawa state.

Maku, one of President Goodluck Jonathan’s unrepentant supporters quit his ministerial post to join Nasarawa state governorship race on the platform of PDP.At  the recent primaries, Maku  reportedly lost out.

But a statement  today signed by Yusuf Zakari Ukpo-Edego said “ the Maku Campaign Organisation having reviewed the PDP gubernatorial primary election held on 8th December, 2014 in Nasarawa, headquarters of Nasarawa Local Government of Nasarawa State hereby rejects  the said primary in totality”

Giving reasons for the rejection of  the primaries, the statement said “The attention of the Nasarawa State PDP Gubernatorial Primary Election Panel led by Distinguished Senator Adolphus Wabara was drawn to the issue of the delegates list that was changed in the following local government areas: Keana, Obi, Lafia, Akwanga and Nasarawa Eggon.

“The entire process of the election was full of frustration due to sudden change of venue without prior notice.

“ That the delegates were not accredited, as a result, the actual number of delegates was not certain.

“ The Election Panel Chairman announced a total of 1100 voters’ cards to be used for the elections as against the total of 601 delegates for the gubernatorial primary thereby giving room for manipulation of the electoral process.

“That most of the delegates were intimidated to vote for a particular aspirant against their wish.

Zakari Ukpo-Edego said in the statement that “ In view of the above, the Maku Campaign Organisation hereby appeals to the PDP Gubernatorial Appeal Panel, Nasarawa State, to use its good office to address these anomalies in the interest of our great party and the success of the 2015 general election in Nasarawa State.
