Gunmen believed to be robbers and numbering about 30, yesterday attacked Bargaja village in Isa local government of Sokoto state.
Umar Mohammed, the chairman of the local council, disclosed this in an interview with Newsdiaryonline.com on Thursday.
It was gathered that the robbers went to the village on ten Kasea brand of motorcycles, conveying three persons on each of them.
“The robbers came around 2am armed with sophisticated weapons,” Muhammed said.
The chairman added that the robbers attacked about ten houses, carting away various amounts of money in an operation that recorded no death.
A 27-year old man was however injured when he was hit on the head with the butt of a rifle.
In a related development, another gang attacked Modachi village located also in the same local government on October 21, 2013.
The robbers were reported to have attacked two houses and carted away undisclosed amount of money and also looted some shops, Mohammed further disclosed.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Al-Mustapha Sani confirmed the story saying however that no arrests had been made so far.
He appealed to the people of the area to report all suspicious persons or group as well as advised residents to assist the police and other security agencies with useful information.
