Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state has decried the Ozubulu, Anambra state church massacre, describing it as intolerable, barbaric and senseless. He said the perpetrators have not only displayed cowardice but have shown how bestial the have become.

In a statement signed by Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Emmanuel Bello, the governor noted that the attackers must be found and served due justice. Governor Ishaku also condoled with the family of the victims, noting that their wards died like martyrs. He also prayed for the repose of their souls.

Governor Ishaku said, “this unfortunate incident has once again shown how cheap human life has become in our nation today. As leaders we owe it a duty to do all within our powers to safeguard the lives and properties of our people. I really feel sad and heartbroken. My heart goes out to the government and people of Anambra state who are mourning. We in Taraba state are in solidarity with the Anambra state government and in deed the federal government as they move to unravel and get to the bottom of this matter. This cannot be allowed to just slide past. It must be thoroughly investigated and the cowards who did it must be found and brought to justice.”

Governor Ishaku also urged citizens to be more cautious and take proactive measures in ensuring security. He said, “let me reiterate the need for citizens to become more observant and cautious in security matters. We must all be more vigilant and report any suspicious activities we see around us. Security is not only the job of security officials as they also need our inputs”

Meanwhile, the governor has repeated his earlier stance on the quit notice given Igbos, stressing that they are welcome to work and live in the state. He said, ” let me use this  opportunity to assure all Igbos and other groups that they are welcome and free to stay in our state. We don’t believe in any quit notices. We shall use all in our power to protect lives and properties. Under my watch, Taraba state shall continue to experience peace and prosperity.”
