FUTA Management Is Students Friendly –NANS

The Ondo axis of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee (JCC) has commended the leadership style of the Vice Chancellor of the Federal
University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, Professor Adebiyi Daramola, describing him as the best in terms of students’ welfare and development in tertiary institutions in Ondo axis.
This commendation came when students’ leaders in all the higher institutions in Ondo
State led by Comrade Rufai Adewunmi recently paid a familiarization and
courtesy call on Professor Daramola.
Addressing the gathering, Adewunmi said, “As students’ leaders, we are indeed proud of the
leadership style of our amiable Vice Chancellor, Professor Adebiyi Daramola who has always kept to his promises. So far, we have observed that FUTA during your tenure has been crisis free because you and your team are good crisis managers. We also appreciate the fact that you have good skills in preventing crisis and pray for more wisdom for you in
leading this university”.
He also commended the school’s management for carrying students along in decision
making and allowing them to operate freely.
Speaking further, he said the aim of NANS JCC in Ondo and the whole of Nigeria is to promote the welfare of students and thanked Professor Daramola and his team, especially the Dean of students, Dr. Kayode Alese for not undermining the welfare of the students.
Comrade Adewunmi further thanked FUTA management for exposing them to leadership
training both locally and internationally and commended the maintenance of existing infrastructure and development of new ones in the institution.
The Students leaders also commended the international collaboration efforts of the
University which is already yielding positive results especially the one with the Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University (FAMU) where four FUTA Students are currently undergoing graduate and postgraduate studies. They also encouraged the management to do more in that line so that more students can benefit. Comrade Adewunmi said, “Truly FUTA is already in the global market place with this achievement.”
In his response, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Daramola expressed his delight in the leadership of the students in the institution. He said, “We are proud of our student leaders who are always well behaved and responsible. I can say the same about students leaders from other institutions too because we interact as CEO of these institution”.
“I am particularly impressed because wherever we go all over the world where our products are spread, we hear good reports about them. Employers of labour always commend our
products. Here in FUTA, we make our students part of us, we find out what they want and treat them like our children because we know they are our future and we always strive to turn our raw materials to good finished products”.
Corroborating Professor Daramola, both the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Development Professor
Tolulope Akinbogun and Dean of Students, Dr. Kayode Alese expressed their delight in the quality of students’ leaders and prayed for continuous peace in the higher institutions in the state and the country. According to them peaceful co-existence and dialogue bring progress. They also admonished the students to develop themselves for the future as budding entrepreneurs.
