The Kogi Elders Forum has appealed to the State Government to support the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) in its developmental struggles and strides.
This call was made by the forum’s Chairman, Chief Julius Elukpo, during a visit to the institution in Lokoja.
Chief Elukpo’s appeal comes after FUL Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olayemi Akunyemi, expressed concerns that the university was yet to feel the state government’s impact.
Akunyemi highlighted that the university had grown from four to 10 faculties without an approved Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) and lacked a structure to call its own from the state government.
Elukpo acknowledged the university’s progress, citing its growth from four to 10-14 faculties, and expressed satisfaction with the institution’s development.
He attributed the growth to the appointment of an indigenous Vice Chancellor, Prof. Akunyemi.
The chairman hopes that State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo would reconsider and support the institution’s developmental struggles, enabling it to become one of the best in the country.(NAN)
