The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Awwal Ijakoro as the new Sarkin Bwari, Bwari Area Council of the FCT.
Mr Abubakar Sani, Special Assistant (Media) to the FCT Minister disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to him, the new monarch succeeds his late father, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammad Ijakoro, who died on Aug. 29, 2017.
He said the appointment of the new Sarkin Bwari was done in pursuant to the powers conferred on the Minister under the relevant sections of the FCT Chiefs (Appointment & Deposition) Act, 1997 and in accordance with established customs and traditions of the Bwari Chiefdom.
According to him, the nomination of Alhaji Awwal Ijakoro was accordingly endorsed by the Bwari Kingmakers.
Ijakoro, who had his primary and secondary education at Suleja and Kwali respectively, was born in Bwari on June 9, 1977.
He holds a Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Abuja and a B.Sc Public Administration from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
The minister aide added that until his ascension to the throne, Ijakoro was the Chiroman Bwari.
He quoted the minister as saying that the exalted traditional office of Sarkin Bwari demanded a high sense of responsibility, maturity, and commitment and therefore the new traditional ruler to strive to uphold these virtues at all times.
Mohammed used the opportunity to call on all stakeholders, particularly the people of Bwari Chiefdom, to live in peace with one another. (NAN)
