Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly Leyii Kwanee has charged the Rector of the State Polytechnic Bori Elechi Obianko to work with the police to ensure that those behind the October 1 riot that damaged parts of the institution.
Honourable Kwanee gave the charge when he visited the Bori Polytechnic, Monday to ascertain the level of damage done following last Wednesday’s incidence in the campus of the state owned polytechnic.
The Deputy Speaker commended the Rector for his administrative capability to bring the situation under control, noting that it is consonance with what Governor Chibuike Amaechi would have expected.
In his response thanked the member Representing Khana Constituency 1 at the State Assembly for the timely visit and announced that 2 committees have been set up to investigate the cause of the crisis and to ascertain the damages and looted items.
The Polytechnic has been closed for 2 weeks and as at press time the campus was completely deserted.
