Edo To Collaborate With Graduate Farmers On Food Security

Edo state government has pledged its readiness to collaborate with graduate farmers to sustain food security in the state. Chairperson of the Edo State Relief Materials Distribution Committee, Office of the First Lady, Hajia Maimuna Momodu stated this yesterday in Benin City on behalf of the state government, while receiving food items donated by graduate farmers under the aegis of Edo State Co-Operative Farmers Agency for victims of the recent flood disaster that ravaged parts of the state.

“The government under the able leadership of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has demonstrated his strong linked with farmers in the state and promised to sustained collaboration with the farmers so as to sustain food security.”

“As graduate farmers, your effort in terms of food production is laudable and we implore your agency to be more committed in this feat.”

“It should be noted here that, the government of Adams Oshiomhole is focusing more on agriculture and will surely collaborate with your agency for mass production of agricultural commodities”, she said.

Hajia Momodu who thanked the graduate farmers for coming to the aid of victims now living in the relief camps equally charged well meaning citizens of the state to emulate the gesture by showing love to those who were affected as a result of the flood disaster.

Earlier in his remark, President of the Edo State Co-Operative Farmers Agency, Mr. Nosa Amayo said the move by the graduate farmers was necessitated to provide the much needed food items and delivery to those victims of the flood disaster in the state whose major source of livelihood has been on agriculture.


“As farmers we identify with our co-patriot in the state and beyond whose major source of livelihood has been on agriculture who were recently affected by the flood disaster that has ravaged major L.G.A were agriculture activities are high”’ he said.

He disclosed that the agency which made the state proud by coming third position of the 36 states including Abuja, (FCT) that partook in the just concluded food exhibition to mark this year’s October 18, United Nations World Food Day celebration as “”International Year of Cooperatives” said it is high time government at all levels should be more committed to addressed issues of food security for all by giving agricultural cooperative society the need assistance.

Mr. Amayo highlighted benefit in terms of agricultural investment and sue for conducive atmosphere to get more of Nigeria graduate involved in the process of food production for sustainability of food security programme for the nation.
