#TrackNigeria – The Commissioner of Police,Lagos State Command, CP Zubairu Muazu, mni has warned that tough times await traffic robbers with the deployment of surveillance teams across the State. He also said the Command would continue to make Lagos State a difficult place for criminal elements to operate just as he urged residents to be vigilant at all times.
The CP’s warning was contained in a statement by the Lagos Command Spokesman, DSP Bala Elkana announcing the arrest of five suspected traffic robbers at different locations in the city.
According to DSP Elkana, “On 18/02/2019 at about 10.00pm, Police Patrol team on surveillance along Oshodi /Apapa express way sighted some armed bandits at Toyota bus stop, under Daleko bridge, taking advantage of the traffic congestion, robbing Motorists and other unsuspecting members of the Public of their valuables such as laptops, handsets and money. Three suspects namely; Daniel Ani ‘M’ 19yrs, Akinbode Muiz ‘M’ 17yrs and Oluwasegun Emmanuel ‘M’ 24yrs were arrested. They confessed to be responsible for traffic robbery along Mushin and environ.
“They confessed to have stolen numerous phones and bags from different victims as well as a bag containing the sum of Twenty five thousand naira belonging to one Oyebanji Ibukun ‘F’ of No 14, waheed Ologunju street ,Okeafa Isolo before they were apprehended by the Police. Two knives and cutlasses were recovered from the suspects. Investigation is ongoing, suspects will soon be charged to Court.
In a related development, Elkana said , “on 19/4/2019 at about 8.00pm, surveillance patrol team attached to Orile Police Station received a distress call that some traffic robbers are operating at Alafia area along Lagos Badagry Express Way. Anti robbery teams were quickly deployed to the scene. Two suspects namely; Olalekan Taoreed ‘M’ 20yrs of No.20, Sunday street, Ijora Badia and Adeniyi Okunloye ‘M’ of No. 25, Alaba Road, Suru Alaba were arrested. One Samsung Duos handset stolen from one of the victims was recovered from them. One big sharp cutlass which was used in inflicting injuries on their victims, was recovered from them. The suspects confessed to be responsible for traffic robberies along Orileand environs. Investigation Is ongoing and suspects will be charged to Court.”
