A Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Friday ordered that a 19-year-old man, Buhari Umar, who pleaded guilty to malicious damage be remanded.
The police charged Umar, whose address was not provided, with malicious damage, and unlawful breaking into shops.
The Magistrate, Mr Fadaunsi Adefioye, remanded the defendant and adjourned the case until Feb.3, for review of facts of the case and sentencing.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, ASP Clement Okuoimose told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan.13, at about 1 a.m at the Trade Fair area of Lagos.
Okuoimose told the court that the defendant broke into the container shop of the complainant, Sunday Udeh, with intent to steal.
The prosecutor said that the defendant damaged the show glass of in Nzeh Levi’s shop, another complainant.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 350 and 309 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015,” he said. (NAN)
