Court remands 29-year-old man over alleged impersonation

A Tumfure Chief Magistrates’ Court, Gombe, on Monday ordered the remand of  29- year-old  Abbas Sabo, over alleged  impersonation, forgery, criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The defendant had denied committing the alleged offences levelled against him.

But the Chief Magistrate, Mr Japhet Maida, ordered for the remand of the accused and adjourned the case until Nov. 7 for mention.

The prosecutor, Insp. Habibu Danjuma, told the court that Sabo of Mayobalwa Local Government Area, of Adamawa, committed the offence on 0ct.3 at Tudun Wada quarters, Gombe.

According to the prosecutor, on the same date, at about 3p.m. Sabo was arrested at Tudun Wada, with police warrant card, parading himself as a police sergeant.

He said that the defendant also deceived one Tahir Inuwa of Dass Local Government Area of in Bauchi State, and collected N95, 000 to secure an employment for him, with the Federal Road Safety Corps.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 132, 363, 311 and 320 of the Penal Code.

He further told the court that investigation into the matter is still ongoing, and requested that the accused be remanded to enable police complete investigation. (NAN)
