Community Leader Calls On Rich Sons To Come Home, Invest

The wealthy  sons and daughters of Ohuhu in Umuahia North LGA  living outside  Abia have been called upon to  bring back home their investment in order to develop their community and the state.

This charge was given by  Comrade Uzomba Ekwuribe, Chairman of 2017 August Conference of Okaiuga Nkwoegwu Improvement Union (ONIU) Women’s Wing.

Ekwuribe, a director in Abia civil service said Ohuhu is a great community that  has produced the likes of  late Dr Michael Iheonukara Okpara, Premier of Former Eastern Region, whom he said presided  over what is today  known as ten States and whose legacies till today speak for themselves

He used the occasion of the meeting to appeal to Ohuhu women whose sons and husbands are doing well to bring their businesses home with the aim of giving employment and development to the community.

Ekwuribe who was a one time Secretary of Abia NUJ also   appealed to the first Lady ,Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu to set up Abia state August Conference Committee (AACC) to coordinate the various women executives with the view of assisting them develop their communities through the payment of counterpart funds to World Bank Agencies for the development of their communities and the state.

He maintained that the  adoption of the idea and proposal would ensure that  women can attract ten million naira  project(s) through the payment of ten percent or even five percent counterpart fund adding that if the method is adopted, it would ensure that the money realized at the August conference is not frittered away, embezzled or become subject of dispute or division

He encouraged the women of their plan to rehabilitate the civic centre in the community but urged them to go further by building a shopping complex at there. While he called on the chairman of the LGA, Hon. Chidiebere Nwachukwu and the President General ,Chief sir Obi Aguocha to explore their contacts to ensure that any of the World Bank Agencies in the state assists the women to build a ten million naira Okaiuga Nkwoegwu shopping complex.

Ekwuribe used the occasion to thanked the great sons of Ohuhu  community for their developmental  strides within the community, noting that  through their effort, the community can now boosted of street lights, boreholes, drainages and asphalted roads and can compete with other bigger cities.

Also contributing, the President General of Okaiuga Nkwoegwu Improvement Union,Chief Sir Obinna Aguocha commended the women in all their efforts geared towards community development in their complimentary roles towards  their husbands in Ohuhuland.
He also assured  the women of the necessary support from the men at all time in order to ensure  the community’s  development to greater height.
