Kaduna Women wing of Christian Associationof Nigeria (WOWICAN), on Thursday described the spate of killings in the North-east as unfortunate  called on all Nigerians to join them in prayers and action in order to collectively address the issue.

The women, who made this known while addressing newsmen, at Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kaduna council’s secretariat, also called on the Boko Haram insurgents to stop killing their children and husbands.

The National Chairperson of WOWICAN, Pastor Dr. Mabel Oyin Sowolu reiterated its commitment to seeking the face of God continuously after human efforts to tackle insecurity and other social vices bedeviling the nation  are  not yielding desired results, until there is peace all over.

She added that the Christian body was in Kaduna to see women, children and fathers and associate with them especially in this trying period when things were not rosy.

According to her, it is women and children that were mostly affected when there is crisis, adding that if there is no peace in the community, there will not be peace in Nigeria.

Pastor Sowolu however commended the efforts of wife of Nigerian President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan for organizing different prayer and intervention programmes, aiming at restoring peace in the country, saying, “we are carrying the banner in the angle of Christendom to preach peace and that is what we have come to do in Kaduna with representatives from across the country.”

She stressed further that bulk of the solution to the problems in Nigeria was in the hands of women, “We need to teach our children right from our homes so that anybody cannot teach them how to commit atrocity. We also need to encourage our husbands that this is the time for them to be strong.

“We will not relent in our efforts until peace reigns in Nigeria. That is why we have chosen our special theme, “Women of courage. So our purpose of coming here is to seek God face and to work together.

“We also want to identify with our people in the North-east and we are saying enough is enough. We are appealing to this people to lay down their arms, to stop using our children in killing people. We are asking them to stop killing our husbands. We are asking them to stop killing our children. We do not want to mourn again and by the grace of God, everything will be well.”
