The Chairman, Bwari Area Council of Abuja, Mr John Gabaya, has called on his predecessors to join hands with him in enhancing greater development of the council.
Fielding questions from newsmen in Abuja on Thursday, Gabaya said the process of working together with former council bosses had begun.
He gave assurance that he would also give a listening ear to stakeholders in the area for the success of his administration.
Gabaya said this became necessary as the major priority of his administration remains bringing development to the council through unity.
“I have taken a step on how to further unify the people, already.
“We have met with some past Chairmen of the council to strategies on how to bring the people closer to each other, irrespective of ethnic or religious beliefs, for the progress of the council.
“I believe working with these past executives will give me the opportunity to learn from their past mistakes as well as provide me the opportunity to be cautious and not repeat errors of the past,” he said.
The chairman said that plans are underway to review the council’s 2019 budget, which had earlier been presented by the past administration, in order to add new and enhanced projects.
“We are out for a change; we want to work on the township roads, especially, the Sabon-gari road, the market road and the road to this council.
“We will also concentrate on infrastructure. The hospital buildings are dilapidated and in need of quick intervention. Even the council’s Secretariat needs a lot of refurbishing.
“There’s provision for budget review by the Constitution and so, we will sit down and plan how to make these developments achievable,” he said.
Gabaya also called on all his appointees to give in their best.
He added that all hands must be on the deck in order to achieve the best for the council. (NAN)
