Breast Cancer: NGO Takes Campaign To Ghettos, Rural Communities.

An Activist and the chairperson “Foundation for the Protection of Women and Children in Nigeria”, Comrade Ramatu Tijjani, has taken breast cancer sensitisation campaign to children Living in local community’s and Ghetto’s including rural women ,with the sole aims of enlightening them on early sign, symptoms and danger of breast Cancer.

Ramatu said, there was the need to educate all women and children in Nigeria, hence the need for visiting ghettos ,orphanage home, schools, to create awareness among female children, adding that they are also coming up with additional plans and strategies to take the campaign to Destitute home ,.and to meet with Association of commercial sex workers, and other various vital groups of women including the mentally challenged women living in psychiatric hospital ,and inmates.

She said ,”I started the campaign last year 2016 , and I was able to educate Hundreds of IDPs, and rural women on sign and dangers of breast cancer in some part of kaduna and Abuja state of Nigeria
She said The theme of this year campaign “Educate the little once on sign ,symptoms and Dangers of breast cancer” while last year theme was” Catch them young” adding that every years, she spend the month of October in educating both rural and urban women on breast cancer, and she is hoping to end the Campaign at the end of October this year 2017.

“Am hoping to visit more women living in Bush and forestry, am hoping to meet with wives of fisher men residing at Riverbank, and cattle breeders with other women living inside Bush, so as to enlighten them and fight against the Diseases”
Additionally ,the comrade said, she has taken breast cancer campaign to some mosque and churches in kaduna, and she is hoping to takes more campaign to football pitch, Motor-pack, kaduna railways station at rigasa, and visit other rural markets women that are always residing in their local community’s

Ramatu said majority of breast cancer Campaign was targeted at matured women who live in cities, ignoring rural women, pointing out that there was the need to change the pattern from urban to rural dwellers in other to help them ,that is why she was taking her campaign to local communities, Ghettos and villages, “Majority of breast cancer Campaign is focus in the cities while abandoning the rural women, we must remembered the rural women, we must educate them, so as to save them from the situation they are”.

She called on Nigerian government to ban the sales of second hand braziers and clothing to save lives of thousands of women from getting all forms of infections.
