Bomb explosions mar Sallah celebrations in Kano

There were worrying, even confounding reports of explosions in Kano on Sunday.First was a report of a female suicide bomber who was stopped in her tracks but the explosives went off reportedly killing her at a location close to North West University Kano.Some security operatives were injured.
Again ,there was a report of another explosion where a bomb was thrown into a church at Sabon Gari Area.At leas 5 people were killed in that blast.
Yet there was an unconfirmed report of another explosion inside the city.That explosion was said to have targeted a ‘go-slow’ of people and vehicles moving about in celebration of Sallah.
Meanwhile ,Mr Adenrele Shinaba Kano state commissioner of police told journalists that his men averted another bomb blast Saturday night.He said a distress call alerted the police to an abandoned Peugeot 406, with registration No. AA 513 ZAK painted in white colour.The car was parked beside Isiyaku Rabiu Mosque within Goron Dutse quarters of Kano city.
The CP said “On receipt of the information, our men led by the EOD Personnel were mobilized to the scene and discovered the said vehicle was loaded with IEDs primed to be detonated during today’s Eid Fitr’s prayers.”adding,“We immediately disconnected and dislodged the EIDs safely without causing any injury or damage.”
