A fresh round of gun fire and explosions was recorded in Kano earlier today.Reports said residents of the affected area could not dare come out as fighting between Boko Haram and security forces raged.
“We were stopped from coming out for our early morning prayers, we couldn’t leave the house. About 5am (0400 GMT) the gunshots and explosions started and they haven’t stopped,” Stephen Ahmed, a local Kano resident, told Reuters by phone.
Kano witnessed one of the worst attacks by Boko Haram recently as the Islamic sect attacked selected security institutions in the city.Since the event, there has been series of confrontations between the group and securitymen in the city.
