Some‎ youths in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kontagora local government area of Niger state have protested the appointment of the Secretary to the State Government ,SSG by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello.

They accused  the  new SSG of being a card carrying member of the Peoples D‎emocratic Party (PDP).

The youths stormed the APC Secretariat as early as 11 am and met some officials who directed them to direct their grievances and complaints to the party Chairman or the Governor.

Some of their complaints include that due diligence was not carried out in appointing the SSG as he  is a card carrying member of PDP and they have it on good authority that  he did not vote for APC.

They also complained  that those of them that have been in the  opposition for the past 16 years working  to produce the much needed change were sidelined.

The youths stated that it was  unfair to the APC that the governor would reward a PDP stalwart who has been victimizing them for the past 16 years.

However in a telephone interview  with our correspondent,Niger State APC Chairman, Engineer Mohammed Imam said he did not know of any protest about the appointment adding that everything was  in order in the party.

He however stated that the appointment of the SSG  was based solely on the decision of the Governor and not politically  based.
