The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin Alumni Association of 1993/1994 set, on Wednesday donated 12 solar street lights to the university towards enhancing students’ study at night.
Prof. Olayinka Karim, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, UNILORIN, while speaking at the inauguration of the project, promised to protect the street lights from being damaged.
Karim appreciated the contributions of the members of the association to the Faculty and assured them that he would continue to keep the flag flying.
Speaking, John Atte, a Professor of Animal Nutrition, Faculty of Agriculture, UNILORIN, expressed joy on seeing his former students contributing to the development of the Faculty.
“It is a real pleasure to see what you, my children, have done and I feel fulfilled seeing that students that I have trained are now responsible.
“I am glad that you did not forget home. We that taught you are feeling fulfilled. We are really glad that you did not forget us.
“Whether you are here or by virtual, we want to thank you for everything”, he said.
Earlier, the President of the association, Mr Ayodeji Adeniyi, described the inauguration of the project as a mixed feeling.
Adeniyi explained that aside being joyful, the association was also mourning two of its members who died recently.
He, however, appreciated the contribution of members for the project and the cooperation of the management of the Faculty towards ensuring its realisation.
In her remarks, the President of the National Association of Agriculture Students (NAAS), Miss Mariam Aleshiloye, thanked the association for constructing the lights.
“We really appreciate your efforts, it has helped students to read at night with the light,” she said. (NAN)
