In line with its determination to create an accident-free electricity services atmosphere within its franchise area which comprises the
Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kogi, Nasarawa and Niger states, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) Plc would commence a
phased cleanup of poorly wired communities, beginning with Gishiri Village in the FCT.
A press statement issued today by Ahmed Shekarau, Head of Public Relations and Media of the company disclosed that the cleaning
exercise will begin tomorrow, Monday, October 9, 2017 in Gishiri and subsequently be extend to Tudun Wada and Dape in Lugbe and Life Camp areas of the Territory, respectively.
The company disclosed further that tomorrow’s work in Gishiri would commence with the strategic removal of substandard electrical poles which would be replaced with standard concrete ones.
The statement noted, however, that the Gishiri network sanitization will lead to intermittent disruption of power supply especially in
particular parts of the community where the cleanup operation is being carried out at a given period of time.
“Against this backdrop, therefore, we are appealing for the patience and understanding of our affected customers, just as we solicit their cooperation with members of the teams appointed to carry out this operation”, the company enthused, even as it assured that the
electricity network refinement is intended to ensure safe delivery of power to them while also improving the quality of the supply.
Reiterating its commitment to the prevention of potential hazards associated with electricity distribution in its area of operation, the
AEDC Management said it was determined to put a stop to all incidents that could lead to injuries or death in the area while it strives to
improve service delivery to its customers
