The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) has extended its heartfelt condolences to the people of Jigawa State following a devastating fuel tanker explosion in Majiya town, Taura Local Government Area, on Tuesday, 17th October 2024. The explosion claimed the lives of 167 people and left 67 others severely injured, many of whom are still receiving medical treatment.
In a statement issued by AANI’s National President, Ambassador EO Okafor, mni, the association expressed profound sadness over the tragic incident. “We are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of 167 lives in this horrific disaster, and our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those affected,” Okafor said. “We also wish a swift and full recovery to the 67 individuals currently receiving medical treatment.”
Ambassador Okafor further emphasized AANI’s solidarity with the people of Jigawa State during this difficult time. “At this time of immense grief, AANI stands in solidarity with the people of Jigawa State. We offer our thoughts and prayers, hoping for healing and strength for all the victims and their families. We also commend the efforts of the Jigawa State Government and all those providing assistance and medical care to the affected persons.”
The statement, signed by AANI’s National Publicity Secretary, Brigadier General SK Usman (rtd) mni, also highlighted the association’s hope for future safety. “AANI shares in your sorrow and prays that God grants the souls of the departed eternal rest and gives the bereaved families the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May such tragic incidents never befall our nation again.”
