Senate President Bukola Saraki on Sunday paid a condolence visit to Omu-Aran in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara over the death of the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Charles Ibitoye.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ibitoye died on Dec. 1, 2017 after a brief illness at the age of 64.
Chief Festus Awoniyi, the Petu Ataiyero of Omu-Aran, who received the Senate President on behalf of the Olomu-in-Council, thanked him for the visit.
Awoniyi acknowledged the moral and financial support of Saraki to the community as governor and solicited for his assistance in the renovation of the Olomu’s palace.
“While expressing the appreciation of the community to you on this condolence visit, we will not forget in a hurry your past contribution toward the growth, progress and development of our community.
” We are equally soliciting for your support toward having a more befitting and well equipped palace accommodation before the appointment of the next Olomu,” he said.
The senate president, who was also at the residence of the late monarch, used the opportunity to pray for the repose of the soul of the deceased.
He described the late monarch as a kind hearted leader who was always passionate about the progress and development of his community.
Olori Omowumi Ibitoye, the wife of the deceased, expressed appreciation to the senate president for finding time out of his busy schedule to commiserate with the family over the incident.
Mr Muyiwa Oladipo, the Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, on his part, expressed the council’s gratitude on the due recognition accorded the people of the community with the visit. (NAN)
