NEMA delivers relief materials to six burnt Adamawa towns

The National Emergency Management Agency,  NEMA has taken relief materials to the towns of Dong, Lawaru, Bolon, Shaparun, Kikan and Kodomti.

These towns were over ran by the Fulani herdsmen brandishing heavy weapons and killing hundreds of people in a raid that caught security operatives napping.

It was the first batch of consignments  delivered by Federal Government since  Vice President Yemi Osinbajo issued the order.

Adamawa  Deputy Governor, Engineer Martins Babale confirmed the receipt of the materials at the Central Store of (NEMA) along Numan road in Jimeta where the materials were allocated to the affected areas .

Martins who appreciated the timely intervention by the Government to the families of those who lost their loved ones said the items will cushion the effect of the menace experienced by these people.

He said the people of Adamawa state will continue to show  gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for acting immediately through the Vice President who visited the crisis areas few days ago and personally  saw  the extent  of the damage in those communities.

Also speaking, the representative of the Director General of NEMA, Mr Abani Imam Gardi said the materials were the first consignment promised by the Vice President, Osibanjo during his visit to the affected areas.

He said that, “the Vice President during his on the spot assessment visit on Tuesday to the affected areas was in a sorrowful mood and directed NEMA to as a matter of urgency provide relief materials”, adding that the Federal Government was planning to reconstruct and rebuild damage houses for them.

The representative assured that NEMA was expecting more materials from the Federal Government for onward delivery to the victims of the crisis ,stressing that the items delivered includes detergent, mattresess, food items, clothings among others.

The Chairman Numan Local Government Council, Rev Arnold Jibila while receiving the consignment on behalf of others ,explained that  he was  not looking at the quantity but the intention of the government towards the people who have suffered due to the unfortunate crisis.
