Former Military President,General Ibrahim Babangida celebrated his 71st birthday at his Hilltop Mansion in Minna on Friday with Prayers offered at his residence by Islamic clerics.
The former military president -who appeared quite excited by the crowd comprising the officials of Niger state government and a cross section of people from the state and beyond including foreigners – treated his guests to what could pass for an untold story.
IBB who was responding to speeches earlier made said,”First of all ,I will like to convey my gratitude to the government and people of Niger state for identifying with me all the time.
Then he proceeded to make his stunning revelation:”I once was in Abuja and the two presidents, Obasanjo before Jonathan asked me to say ‘look, we hear you don’t sleep in Abuja’ .I said ‘yes’.Then I think Jonathan said why? I said because I feel safer in Minna”. Interestingly, the crowd cheered him on.
“So there can be no greater demonstration of this than what I have witnessed here today.I feel at home all the time.I feel great being amongst you “
He also thanked the people for their tremendous goodwill just as he expressed gratitude to those who came from far and wide to celebrate his birthday with him.
IBB admonished Nigerians “ to work together as a people because we don’t have any other country except this one.And we might as well work together to make it work and we are capable of doing so.”
He urged Nigerians to do whatever they can to make country a better place.
