A priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Okwor, says God will base His judgment on the love and sacrifice one makes to touch the lives of others.

Okwor, who is the Administrator in-charge of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Iji Nike, Enugu, said this in a homily during the memorial service for Pa Samuel Mbonye on Sunday.

Mbonye, 88, who died on Oct. 25 last year, is the father of Mr Mike Mbonye, Head, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Lagos Office.

The cleric, who spoke on the theme; “Solemnity of Christ the King of the Universe’’, urged Nigerians to change their ways, especially their attitude to the welfare and well-being of others.

He alluded to the Holy Bible in Matthew 25; 31-46, where Jesus Christ said that he was sick, naked, in-prison that people did not come and attend to him.

“How many lives have you touched in your own little way. Anybody that you come in contact with; will the person say he or she had met another Jesus Christ.

“You must make your victory through the cross. If we can change our attitude to life and how we treat others; this world will be a beautiful place to live and I bet you, we will make heaven as well at last,’’ he said.

Okwor urged Nigerians to shun individualism; adding that individualism is killing the spirit and sacrifice of love in the country.

“God will base His judgment on the sacrifice one makes to better the lives of others around him rather than fame and wealth one poses,’’ he added.

The Head of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Lagos Office, Mr Mike Mbonye, thanked the visitors and members of NAN family for their support to the family in the past one year.

“I want to thank you, people, for your support and love shown to my family and extended family during the death of our father, especially people that came from far in the country,’’ Mbonye said.

NAN reports that family, friends, well-wishers, and NAN staff attended the memorial service. (NAN)
