A construction site labourer, Iyere Osilamah,was on Tuesday arraigned in an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing seven rolls of cable worth N245, 000.
Osilamah, 40, who resides in Ikorodu, near Lagos, is facing a two-count charge, bordering on conspiracy and stealing, preferred against him by the police.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Cyriacus Osuji, told court that the defendant and others now at large committed the offences on Nov. 4 at ITB construction site at Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Victoria Island.
Osuji said that Osilamah stole the cables valued at N245, 000 from the store, property of ITB Construction Company.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 411 and 287 (7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded innocent of the offence.
The Magistrate, Mrs A. T. Omoyele, granted Osilamah bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said that the sureties must be responsible and gainfully employed.
Omoyele said that the sureties must also show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government and their addresses verified.
She adjourned the case until Nov. 29 for mention. (NAN)
