The Benue State have shot and killed two of the gunmen known to be harassing Ugbokolo community. It was learnt that the two were shot in the open at the sprawling Ugbokolo Market in broad day light.
One of those killed has been identified as one Emma Udo.He was known to be the ring leader, perhaps even the initiator of the orgy of violence that has enveloped the town and nearby villages.
“Police in Benue have shot dead two persons believed to be the leaders of the gunmen that have established their authority over Ugbokolo town in Benue State in the last one month One of them is called Emma Udo alias ‘Belief’. They were shot in the open at the vast Ugbokolo market patronised by Cross River” Newsdiaryonline was told.
The police obviously moved in response to growing media attention to the orgy of violence in the community.
It was learnt that the two gunmen killed were often identified as cultists by the local community.But observer say they are just basically robbers who raid and plunder and kill.
Also, the two gunmen killed Thursday belong to a group known as the ‘toughest seven’ cultists in the community.
So, it is hoped that the police will intensify its manhunt for the rest of the boys harassing,raiding and looting the communities.”These boys are very well known,it is just that there is fear all over.”
