The Federal Government says it is set to strengthen communication on the reforms of President Bola Tinubu at the grassroot to enhance more understanding and acceptance.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris made this known on Thursday in Abuja after a meeting with Presidential Media Aides.
Idris said they had looked at very critical areas of national development and noted how Nigerians could be informed about government’s programmes and policies.
“it is our desire to consistently keep Nigerians very well informed on the visions of President Tinubu and to allow Nigerians know what is happening In government at all times.
“This is why the communication team of the federal government has come together. As you can see, I have all the special advisers, principal special assistants and other assistants on media here.
“We have deliberated on critical national issues, and we are ‘streamlining our strategy to inform Nigerians more about what we do. Of course, this is not the first time that this is happening,” Idris said.
He added: “You know that we hold periodic ministerial press briefings; that, we intend to continue with. We also want to continue with the town hall meetings that we have started.
“Very soon, the national communications team will go to the South Eastern part of the country to engage with Nigerians in town hall meeting
By this, we will take the message of Mr. President to their doorstep and also hear from them firsthand, their reaction and observations”.
The minister pleaded with Nigerians to give Tinubu more time, adding that some of the reforms were supposed to have commenced two decades back.
Speaking on power supply disruption, the minister said that the President had sent the Minister of Power to Kaduna and Kano to ensure restoration of supply in that parts of the country.
“I am happy to say that the team working on that have achieved a good level of success. Over 70 per cent of that have been achieve, because, the President said by Sunday, power would be restored to all parts affected.
“We call on all Nigerians to be vigilant. We have to come together to fight these Vandals.
“Security agencies have been charged to also be vigilant and ensure such disruption does not occur again,” Idris said. (NAN)
