2 brothers in court for allegedly stealing N1.2m tricycle

  • Two brothers – Shehu Bubakar and Usman Abubakar, were on Wednesday brought before a Kaduna Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a tricycle valued at N1.2 million.
  • The duo, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
  • The prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on July 25 at Kano Road, on Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna.
  • “The accused persons conspired to steal one tricycle with registration number AKD 657 QF valued at N1.2 million property of one Ibrahim Haruna,” Leo said.
  • According to him, the offences are punishable under Sections 411 and 217 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
  • Section 411 prescribes four years jail term if found guilty, while Section 217 prescribes six year jail term if found guilty.
  • The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
  • Chief Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel granted the defendants N100,000 bail each with two sureties each in like sum.
  • He ordered that the sureties should provide to the court evidence of tax payment to the Kaduna State Government.
  • He adjourned the matter until Aug. 29, for hearing. (NAN)
