A suit challenging the eligibility of President Goodluck Jonathan has been struck out by a Federal High Court in Abuja.Jonathan is the Presidential candidate of the Peeoples Democratic Party for the March 28 election
The plainrtiffs , Dr Junaid Mohammed ,Professor Tunde Samuel, Mr Razak Adeosun and Yahaya Ezeemoo Ndu, last week asked the court to restrain the President from the race.
However,Justice AR Mohammed of Federal High Court today struck the case out after Yusuf Ali, SAN counsel to the plaintiffs filed the papers to discontinue the suit.
According to the judge: “The plaintiffs in this matter have filed an application to discontinue.
He ruled further that ,“The party who took out process against another and eventually withdraw it must be ready for some sanction.
Therefore, he awarded N50000 against the plaintiffs.“I hereby award the sum of N50, 000 against the plaintiffs. The suit is hereby struck out” the judge ruled.
