The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Ebonyi has advised eligible citizens in the state to get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to enable them to vote in the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.

NOA’s state Director, Dr Desmond Onwo, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abakaliki.

He noted that only the card would enable voters to elect good and credible leaders nationwide.

“All eligible citizens that have attained the age of 18 should go and register and get the PVCs.

“Our field officers have been up and doing across communities in Ebonyi, sensitising the general public on the importance of the voting card.

“We have met with community stakeholders, traditional rulers, Christian and Muslim leaders, and we are collaborating to ensure that people who are 18, and yet to register, should do so and get their PVCs.

“If you don’t have your card, that means you are depriving yourself the right to vote, self-disenfranchising and self-marginalisation in governance.”

Onwo told those seeking the PVCs to go to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) designated centres and register.

According to him, people can also apply for the voter card online.

“The PVC is your weapon and you will have the right to vote and be voted for.

“It will enable you to vote for competent leaders across all positions, irrespective of their political or religious affiliations,” the director said.

Onwo called on politicians to desist from political thuggery, hate speech and form of violence before, during and after the 2023 elections. (NAN)
