A Shari’a Court sitting in Kano, on Friday, sentenced a 45-year-old man, Ado Muhammad, to three years imprisonment for defrauding his business partner.
The police charged Muhammad, who resides in Jogana Town Gezawa Local Government Kano, with criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The Judge, Malam Isah Rabiu-Gaya, gave Muhammad an option to pay a fine of N30, 000.
He also ordered the convict to pay the nominal complainant N1.3 million.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Aliyu Abideen told the court that the convict committed the offence on Sept.14, 2021 at Kunya Town Kano.
He said that the nominal complainant, Nura Iliyasu, gave the convict N1.3 million to buy a car for hi,.
The convict, he said, converted the money to his personal use.
The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Kano State Shari’a Law.(NAN)
