Reports from Kano this morning indicate that Dr M.T Liman, a former minister of education during the Sani Abacha era is dead.He died in Kano after a brief illness.
He has been buried according to Islamic rites.Dr Liman was a lecturer at the Department of Arabic, Bayero University,Kano.It was from there he became member of the constitutional conference in 1994-95.
He was appointed minister of education thereafter.His tenure as minster was characterised by a long –running battle between ASUU and the Abacha junta.
However Liman returned to his job as lecturer at the Arabic Department of BUK where he worked until he passed on today.
