The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), said it recorded 154 human rights abuse and violation cases in Adamawa in 2021.
Grace Mamza, the Acting State Coordinator of the commission, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday.
Mamza, however, said that the commission had resolved 75 per cent of the cases, while 25 per cent were pending.
She added that some of the cases were child abuse, rape, domestic violence and unnatural cases.
According to her, some of the pending cases have been referred to other institutions and organisations that have mandate to resolve them.
She said such organisations included the Police, Ministry of Justice, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigerian Army.
The coordinator advised Nigerians to respect the rights of one another.
“Sometimes, you as a citizen when your right is violated you can take bold step of reporting the case to the appropriate authority,’’ she said.
Mamza assured that the commission was ready to protect, promote and enforce fundamental human rights when such rights were abused or violated. (NAN)
