Editors of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday renewed their commitment to quality service delivery.
They also pledged to boost the agency’s output through dedication and cooperation with the management to take the agency to a new height.
They spoke on Wednesday in separate interviews in Ilorin at the 2021 Editorial Conference.
The retreat was designed to appraise the operations of the agency as well as adopt pragmatic and modern strategies of news agency journalism.
Mr Habibu Harisu, the Sokoto State Correspondent of the agency, said the editors were working like a family to improve its fortunes.
Harisu said he expected a positive outcome from the retreat as all participants were eager to take NAN to higher levels.
“We are here to rub minds and chart the way forward for the agency. All hands are on deck to ensure NAN maintains its giant status,” he said.
On her part, Mrs Grace Yusuf, Deputy Editor in Chief (DEIC) from Abuja, described the retreat as “special”.
Yusuf said the retreat was special because all departments were represented for an inclusive input.
She said the editors would work like a family and as well mentor the reporters to discharge their duties effectively.
“We are not here for jamboree. We are here to discuss how to boost NAN output and satisfy our subscribers. We want to maintain our giant status, in Africa” she said.
Mr Aaron Miller, the Head of Engineering/Technical Department of NAN, said the conference came at the right time for the agency to highlight its challenges and proffer solutions.
Miller assured of improved technical services for the staff and agency to enjoy.
Mr Victor Adeoti, the Osun State correspondent of agency, however, advised upcoming journalists to be dedicated and stop making money their priority.
“They should focus on how to get good stories. I will implore them to stop being desperate for money,” he said. (NAN)
