Dickson, Ikuru Mourn Ekiti Deputy Governor

Ekiti deputy 2Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson has expressed shock and disbelief over the death of the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Mrs Funmilayo Adunni Olayinka,describing it as an irreparable loss not only to the Government and people of Ekiti state but the nation as a whole.

Mrs Olayinka, an accomplished banker and corporate sector player died at the of 52 last Saturday after a protracted battle with cancer. Describing her death as shocking, Hon.

In a Government House statement, Governor Dickson who described the deceased as a notable politician, said her death as created a big vaccuum in the polity.

His word; “ On behalf of the good people of Bayelsa state, I condole with my counterpart in Ekiti state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the good people of Ekiti state, the immediate family of Late Mrs Olayinka over the loss of their dependable daughter and Deputy Governor of the State. I pray to God to grant the family the courage and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”.

Also,Rivers State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru has  commended the courage, forthrightness and resilient spirit of his Ekiti State counterpart, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Olayinka, who passed on Saturday, April 6, 2013.

Engr. Ikuru gave this commendation while condoling with Governor Kayode Fayemi, his wife, Kemi, the government and good people of Ekiti State, especially the Famuagun family on the demise of the late Deputy Governor.

“An enduring symbol of selfless humanity and a standard-bearer who uplifted the less privileged, one definitely was lost for words in the first few minutes of receiving the shocking news,” Engr. Ikuru asserted.

He maintained that it was because of the kind of life she lived that she was able to touch so many lives cutting across religious and ethnic divides within such a short time, stressing that the late Ekiti Deputy Governor who he described as an epitome of humility and honesty would be remembered for a very long time to come.

“As the sun sets on this benevolent amazon on this most inappropriate time when her valuable contribution is much needed in the development of Ekiti and our nation” Engr. Ikuru added, “it is my prayer that the Lord grants the government and people of Ekiti State the strength and endurance to bear this irreparable loss”.
