The Chairman of Kuje Area Council, FCT, Abdullahi Sabo, on Tuesday distributed over 600 bags of fertilizer to farmers as part of his Agricultural agenda to assist them in this years farming season.
Sabo while distributing the bags of fertilizers and some farming implements, urged the benefiting farmers to make good use of them for the development of agriculture in the area.
According to him, the gesture was part of his efforts in ensuring that farmers in the area were assisted with fertilizers, improved farm seedlings and farm equipment every farming season for food security.
“My administration has no choice than to give free fertilizers to farmers, we want to reorganise farmers and reawaken them because agriculture is key to our economy.
“It is our target to ensure that people embrace farming by going back to agriculture for sustainable development of Nigeria.
“We will ensure every farmer benefits from the distribution of these products because Kuje is the food basket of FCT,” he said.
He further promised to establish a committee made up of District Heads, community leaders and ward councillors to ensure every farmer benefits.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Dogara Mark, applauded the council chairman for his kind gesture to the farmers and assured of adequate use of the fertilizer. (NAN)
