#TrackNigeria – A coalition of civil society organisations on anti corruption, Say No Campaign group has urged president Mohammadu Buhari to appoint persons with unquestionable character into office as he prepares to be sworn into office on May 29th 2019.
Mr Ezenwa Nwagwu, the convener, Say No Campaign whomade this call in a press conference Wednesday in Abuja said, the greatest challenge the Buhari administration has faced today was corruption and haemorrhage.
According to him, President Buhari came in 2015 on the promise to tackle corruption head on, as one of the administration’s tripod strategy for reviving public confidence in government, but today the country is faced with hard time corrupt leader’s in public offices.
He noted,” Nigeria in the past three years made important progress in the fight against corruption with injection of political will at the highest level of the administration, introduction of financial and administrative policies to improve transparency and accountability.
Ezenwa however frowned at the haemorrhage that exists in public sectors, where many involved in several cases of corruption, abuse of authority have continued to carry on with impunity.
“The attitude and body language of the government in the scandals involving former secretary General of the Federation, Babachir and kano state governor, Ganduje left nothing to be desired.
“One of the greatest disappointments in the fight against corruption under this administration has come from the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and the Minister of justice, whose actions and in actions have continued to bring shame to the proclaimed anti-corruption campaign of the administration and huge losses to Nigeria ” he said.
