Kaduna: Security operatives conduct `show of force’ exercise ahead of election

#TrackNigeria: No fewer than 438 security operatives in Kaduna on Thursday participated in a special exercise demonstrating capacity  to ward off  violence during the general election.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that forces from 1 Division Garrison of Nigeria Army, Nigerian Air Force, the Nigerian Police, NSCDC, DSS, and FRSC participated in the “show of force’’ exercise.

The Brigade Commander 1Division Garrison Kaduna, Brig: – Gen Jimmy Akpor said the show of force was to create an enabling security environment for a hitch-free 2019 general election.

Akpor also said the same composition of security forces carried out similar exercise in Zaria, Kachia and Birnin Gwari.

He said the exercise had become imperative as the military was prepared to act in aid of the police and other security operatives to ensure a hitch-free election.

“In line with the Nigerian Army Timeline for the 2019 General Elections, all formations were tasked to conduct simultaneous `Show of Force’ in major cities and towns within their various Areas of Responsibility today 14 February 2019.

“With respect to the Show of Force in Kaduna Metropolis, more than 67 assorted operational vehicles and 438 personnel of various Services, forces and agencies participated.

“A company of crack Nigerian Army female Special Forces dispatched to Kaduna to participate in the 2019 General Election, also took part in the `Show of Force’.

“The Nigerian Air Force covered the entire route with aircraft’’, he said. (NAN)
