#TrackNigeria: Senator Aliyu Wamakko has alleged that the Sokoto state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has uncovered plans by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rig the general polls scheduled to commence in February.

According to a statement by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator Wamakko, Bashir Rabe Mani Saturday, the Senator made the allegation during the flag off of the campaigns in Gwadabawa and Illela towns, headquarters of Gwabadawa and Illela Local Governments, respectively.

“Part of the hatchet plans was to buy off the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from unsuspecting electorate, especially women, across the state. They also want to use some voters to mop up all uncollected PVCs from the various offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), across the 23 local governments of the state.

“We are aware of this heinous move and we are therefore calling on eligible voters in the state to be wary of these anti democratic and unscrupulous elements.

“Husbands and Heads of families across the state should therefore be  on the look out and make sure that, these shylock, failed politicians do not egocentrically disenfranchise their wives , as well as household members .

“On the polling days, the electorate should also be vigilant and ensure that, only voters who hail from their respective polling units cast their votes in their various areas .

“On those days, we should also massively cast our votes for APC candidates, at all levels, guard them jealously until the votes are counted and duly declared,” Wamakko said.

The party’s Gubernatorial Candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto underscored the need for the people of the state to vote credible leaders and promised to consolidate on the unrivalled achievements of the administration of Senator Wamakko, between 2007 and 2015.

“If elected, myself and my running mate, we would strive to emulate Senator Wamakko and urgently fill the existing wide gap in terms of the deficit of developmental projects, occasioned by the colossal failure of the incumbent PDP-led administration in the state,” he said.

The State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida, the Campaign Coordinator, Sokoto East Senatorial District, Senator Bello Jibril Gada, as well as the Chairmen of the party in Gwadabawa and Illela Local Governments, Alhaji Muhammadu Umaru Sanda and Alhaji Muhammadu Sarkin Alaru, respectively assured people in the state would massively vote its candidates, at all levels.

Meanwhile, 10,061 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), from the Gwadabawa and Illela local governments have defected to the APC.

The Chairman of the State Campaign Council, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, who expressed happiness with the development, promised they will be treated equally and fairly, just like the older members of the party.
