The District Superintendent, Apostolic Faith, West Africa, Rev. Emmanuel Adeniran, has urged political leaders not to fan the embers of discord and disaffection.

Adeniran made the call on Sunday night at the Christmas Concert of the Church entitled: ”Tidings of Joy” held at its National Headquarters, Lagos.

”Nigeria is greater than the politicians. We pray that after the elections Nigeria will remain peaceful.

”May the Lord go with us into the new year; 2019 is a strategic year for Nigeria because of the forthcoming general elections, let there be peaceful transition of power.

”We want God to chose a leader for Nigeria, only Him will know who is the best and who will meet the needs of the country, we urged Nigerians to embark on prayers for our dear nation,” he said.

Also speaking at the concert, a former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Tunde Lemo, urged Nigerians to embrace peace before, during and after the elections irrespective of the party that win.

”As we prepare for elections, we need to embrace peace and see ourselves as one irrespective of political affiliations, when elections are over, Nigerians should be more united.

”We should not listen to politicians that says all hell will break lose if they are not voted into power, we should all embrace a peaceful Nigeria.

”It is only under peaceful coexistence that Nigeria’s economy could progress, we should equally use this season to reach out to the less privileged and also reconcile with one another.

”Christmas is a time to appreciate God, particularly the great sacrifice that He made, he came to preach love and peace,” Lemo said. (NAN)
