The Buhari Support Group Centre (BSGC) has urged Nigerians to support the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari so as to sustain the current tempo of development across the country.
The Director-General of the Group, Alhaji Umaru Dembo, made the appeal on Tuesday in Lokoja while inaugurating the Kogi State executive of the centre.
He said that the ongoing fight against corruption and insecurity had reached advanced and critical stage, saying that it is by re-electing Buhari that will ensure its logical conclusion.
Dembo, a former Minister of state for petroleum, commended the Federal Government for introducing social intervention programmes such as N-Power and school feeding scheme which he said had reduced youth restiveness nationwide.
He said that attempts being made by opposition parties to undo the successes of the federal government under Buhari would fail as Nigerian electorate are now more wiser.
The State Coordinator of the group, Mr Ahmadu Yakubu, said that Buhari had all it takes to return to power in 2019 through a free, fair and credible electoral process.
He, however, admitted that the task of returning Buhari to power was not going to be easy, given the antecedents some die hard politicians who were deploying dirty tactics.
“I therefore call on stakeholders in this group and other related groups to put hands on the deck to adopt decent persuasive campaign strategies and spread out tentacles across all parts of Nigeria to prevent the incidence of falsehood against Mr President,” he appealed.
Yakubu, who is the state Chairman of the African Democratic Party (ADP), then stated the determination of his members to work with other like minded persons to ensure the victory of Buhari during the Feb. 16, 2019 presidential election.
Jibril Yusuff, BSGC National Director of Administration, said that the objective of the group was to ensure re-election of Buhari in 2019.
He explained that the group was not about any political party, saying that its membership is open to all Nigerians irrespective of religious, tribal and political affiliations.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of the achievements of the Buhari administration since 2015 till date and the inauguration of the Lokoja office of BSGC.
Dignitaries at the event included a former President of the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdulahi, Commissioners, state and National Assembly members and other public office holders. ( NAN)
