At least 5 people suspected to be members of Boko Haram were killed in Kano yesterday.Two soldiers also lost their lives .
The casualties were recorded on the heels of a raid by the Joint Task Force, JTF on suspected Boko Haram hideouts in Kano.
Captain Ikedichi Iweha ,spokesman of JTF confirmed the incident in a statement .He added that the shootout ensued during the raid which occurred at about 3.00am Saturday.
Iweha said the terrorists were on the verge of carrying out simultaneous suicide attacks on Abuja and Kano.
This incident came at time American Centre for Foreign Relations posted an article casting doubts about the videos recently released by ‘Shekau’.CFR believes that the latest videos were not genuine.
On the Kano incident ,Captain Iweha who enjoined citizens to go about their lawful businesses however expressed worry over “the ease with which terrorists secure accommodation” in places like Panshekara,Jaen,Mariri,Farawa,Hotoro,Sherada,Brigade and other outskirt areas in the state despite appeals by the JTF” for people not to rent houses to questionable people.
The JTF said it would not allow Kano become a haven for terrorists.
