Warrant officers of 4 Brigade Nigerian army have won the golden trophy in an inter brigade competition that took place at the Ekehuan Military Cantonment in Benin.
The 2 Division Nigerian Army Inter Brigade’s Warrant Officers and Senior Non Commissioned Officers Competition was hosted by the Headquarters 4 Brigade Nigerian Army in the Edo state capital.
The games started on 13 August and ended 17 August. It tests officers’ skills in weapon handling, physical fitness, navigation and endurance.
Major-General O. F. Azinta, the General Officer Commanding the 2 Division Nigerian Army, who commended the winners said the competition was designed to enhance the proficiency of all formations.
“It is a very important competition in Nigerian Army, as it targets on refreshing the skills of the warrant officers”, he said.
“This competition enables us to bring together our soldiers from all formations, so that they put heads together and build a friendship”.
“It helps us to inculcate ‘I can do spirit in every of our soldier”,he said.
The officers took part in drills competition, map reading, combat swimming, physical fitness, obstacles crossing and shooting.
Apart from officers of the 4 Brigade Benin, participants came from 22 Brigade Illorin, 32 Brigade Akure, 42 Engineer Brigade Ibadan, 52 Signals Brigade Ibadan and 2 Division Garrison Ibadan.
Maj.-Gen Azinta said he was elated that soldiers are ready to put in some efforts to hone their skills.(NAN)
